The Process Is More Important Than The Goal

In my last post I said I would share with you some of the wisdom that my mentors have shared with me. As my son and I were on an hour long car journey this morning going to a basketball tournament one of those lessons shared with me was all around me as we drove through cropping country.
After the best rain we have had for a while this week, the paddocks were alive with action, the beginning of a very important process.
The tractors were going flat out preparing the land ahead of the new crop being sown.
You will have all heard the old saying, you reap what you sow

You maybe asking what this has got to with business, investing, relationships or health.

Well the point that my mentor shared with me that related to this farming action was that every goal has a process and that process is more important than the goal itself. You see the goal of the farmer is to harvest a crop, which is where the income is. It is important to have goals, but each goal is achieve through a process. These farmers knew all to well that they couldn’t expect to reap a crop without preparation. First they prepare the soil, then sow the seed, they keep the weeds under control and finally harvest the crop.

All aspects of our lives are the same, let’s take building an internet business for example.
Before you can even consider an income from this business there is a process that has to be followed before that income is in your pocket. Say your goal is $100,000 per year from your internet business.
To achieve this goal you may have to learn new skills, develop a product or find a product to market, have to build a website, market the site and drive traffic to that site, build your list of clients or prospects all these things are vital to achieving the end goal. These are all part of the process in achieving the $100,000 goal.

After all the preparation, success is not guaranteed, as these farmers preparing their paddocks know after successive dry years. But that doesn’t stop the preparation, that’s the farmer’s way of positioning themselves for the right opportunity, that opportunity is follow up rain.
But what is it that keeps the farmers preparing the land even though success is not guaranteed; Persistence and that will be the topic of my next post.

Until then enjoy the process, enjoy the journey

Take massive Action Daily
